The Life Guards necklace is a very faithful and detailed miniature of the beret emblem. The jewelry is carefully made by casting in solid sterling silver with 18 karat white gold.
History
The history of the Life Guards dates back to January 1521, when a 16-man guard force was appointed to Gustav Vasa. Two years later, the bodyguard was expanded and became known as His Majesty's Dragoons. In 1527, it consisted of 23 knights, 15 of whom were German mercenaries. It is considered the world's oldest regular unit and celebrates its 500th anniversary in 2021.
The unit, which has always been closest to the king, carries many glorious victories on its banner. Among these are Lund, Narva, Düna and Svensksund. Battles that have been absolutely crucial for Sweden's survival as a country. Today, the Life Guard is one of the largest units in the Armed Forces and trains conscripts, home guard soldiers and prepares both civilian and military personnel who serve abroad annually. Guards the royal palaces, through the Armed Forces' parade forces. Educates and trains military police to maintain public order and security within the Armed Forces.
