Necklace Infantry

The Infantry Necklace is a very faithful and detailed miniature of the beret badge made of genuine silver. The beret badge used by the infantry today was introduced into the Armed Forces in 2002 but has been largely dormant.

History

The infantry is a branch of the army that has operated in various forms since 1634. It was also the largest and oldest branch of the Armed Forces until 2000. Its origins naturally extend much further back than 1634, as the art of fighting on foot is as old as humanity itself. In most armies around the world, the backbone is infantry; historically, the foot soldiers were made up of conscripted peasants, while the cavalry, or horsemen, were made up of the lower nobility.

Today, the infantry as a separate troop has begun to be re-established in the Armed Forces in the form of new old regiments such as Västernorrland Regiment I21 in Sollefteå, Dalregementet I13 in Falun and Jämtland Field Ranger Corps which is stationed in Östersund.
