The Air Force necklace is a very faithful and detailed miniature of the beret insignia made of genuine silver. The beret insignia for the Air Force is worn on blue berets and has been used by the service since 2002.
History
The history of the Air Force begins in the early 1900s when the army began military flights in 1912, based at Lilla Värtan in Stockholm. The Navy also had some flying operations, and for this reason the Air Force School was relocated to Vaxholm. During this time, the primary task of the aircraft was reconnaissance. At this time, the aircraft belonged to the Field Telegraph Corps. The following year, development took off with the transfer of operations to Malmen Airport outside Linköping. From having been entirely focused on reconnaissance, bomber and fighter aircraft later began to be used.
In the defense decree of 1925, the Air Force was inaugurated as an independent branch of the armed forces the following year. Sweden's first Air Force Commander took office that same year. Major General Karl Albert Byron Amundson became the Air Force's leader. He had an interesting career as a military attaché, among other things. He had already visited Paris in 1900 to study balloons and aeronautics on behalf of the Army and Navy.
During the early 1950s, the Swedish Air Force was considered the fourth largest in the world with four flight squadrons, 17 flotillas, 2 air corps, 2 flight schools and approximately 1,000 aircraft, which were distributed among almost 50 air divisions.
Today, the Air Force is a highly technological and specialized part of the Swedish Armed Forces with flotillas from Luleå in the north to Ronneby in the south. In addition to flying operations, the Air Force has large resources in technology, maintenance, meteorology, staff and support units.
