Classic tourniquet to stop large blood flows in extremities quickly and effectively. With a little practice, it can be easily applied with just one hand - which is a prerequisite if one arm is injured and help is a short distance away. First tighten and secure with Velcro, then twist the "stick" and create high pressure above the injured area, which stops the blood flow.

A tourniquet should not be left on for longer than 3-4 hours as it can kill healthy tissue. That is why it is equipped with a field to enter the time it was applied - so that everyone in the care chain has the correct information.
